What is AutoTrader stock pricing software?+
AutoTrader stock pricing software connects to a dealer's live AutoTrader stock feed and benchmarks every vehicle's price against comparable listings across the UK market, flagging where a price is too high, too low, or ageing without action. Periscope adds prioritised, £-quantified recommendations and margin intelligence on top, rather than just a raw data feed you have to interpret yourself.
Is Periscope free for independent dealers?+
Yes. Periscope is free for independent dealers, whichever DMS you run - you don't need to be a Torque DMS customer to use it. For franchised dealer groups it's licensed at £125+VAT per site, per month, again whichever DMS you currently run.
How does billing work across multiple sites?+
One line per franchised location on a single group invoice.
What do you need from us to get started?+
Very little. Either ask your AutoTrader account manager to get in touch with us, or send us your AutoTrader dealer ID (also called your Advertiser ID) for each site. Once we've confirmed it with AutoTrader, we give you access with your data already set up, so it's ready to go. There's nothing to install and no credit card required. Margin and profit data is a separate, optional step, see below.
How does Periscope get my profit and margin data?+
That's a separate setup step from the AutoTrader side: we configure an automated report from your DMS, delivered to a secure SFTP server we provide. Once that's connected, Periscope picks the report up and brings the data into your margin figures automatically, no manual upload, no spreadsheets.
Can I change my AutoTrader adverts from Periscope?+
Yes. When Periscope flags a problem with a listing, whether that's the price, the wording, missing photos, missing features or the wrong status, you can fix it on your live AutoTrader advert there and then, without logging into another system. Change one car or a whole batch at once, with a full change history and one-click undo. Your team decides who can make changes.
Can Periscope help us buy stock?+
Yes. Buyers enter a registration and mileage and Periscope pulls together AutoTrader's retail, trade and part-exchange values, the valuation trend and forecast, retail rating and days to sell, the latest MOT test and how your own sites have done on that model. It then works back from the selling price, through prep, holding costs, your target profit and margin-scheme VAT, to the most you should pay and a sensible opening offer.
Is there a minimum contract length?+
No minimum term. Periscope runs on a rolling monthly contract - if it isn't adding value, cancel any time. It's on us to keep earning your business every month, which is why we keep adding new insights at no extra cost - everything is included in the monthly fee.
Can we try it before we commit?+
Yes. Every new site gets a free 30 day trial on your own real stock, with no credit card required. Setting it up is simple: ask your AutoTrader account manager to get in touch with us, or send us your AutoTrader dealer ID. Once AutoTrader has confirmed it, your access and data are set up for you.
